Drew was upset that his attempt to surprise his wife with cupcakes had failed due to him burning them. Though on second thought, he figured they wouldn’t turn out good anyways. Katie was the one who knew how to bake, not him. Drew was watching the Cards game on TV since that was his wife’s team and they had MLB Network. Hearing Katie’s voice, he turned in the couch and looked at her. Giving a smile, Drew nodded his head and stood up and walked in to join her. “Ya know I’d love to babe.” He said as he wrapped his arm around her side. Drew rested his head against hers as he looked at everything laid out before them. “What should we do first?”
When Katie looked at the television and saw the score, sh shook her head and sighed. “Two horrible games in a row.” she mumbled. She hated how badly the Cardinals had been playing lately. Katie smiled as she stood up and walked into the kitchen with Drew. When they got into the kitchen, she looked around. “Okay. I already have the oven preheating to 350 and the paper liners in the cupcake pan so let’s start mixing the ingredients.” she said with a smile as she looked down at her recipe. “Okay, first, we need to combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in this mixing bowl.” she said as she put her hand on the bowl. She grabbed the measuring cups and the flour and set it down next to the bowl. “Want to measure out the flour while I measure out the sugar?” she asked with a smile. “We need 2 1/4 cups.” Katie grabbed the sugar and and some of the other measuring cups and started measuring out 1 1/3 cups of sugar.
Drew knew the game was getting to Katie and comprehended turning off the channel but maybe things would turn around for the ball club and they’d come back and win the game. Drew listened as Katie began to explain the correct approach for making cupcakes. Hopefully he wouldn’t screw things up like he did a few nights ago. “Combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.. check!” Drew said with a bright smile as Katie began to place her hand in the mixing bowl. “Sure thing.” He said cheerfully as he grabbed the measuring cup and measured out the correct amounts of flour. “I cup. 2 cups. And a forth of a cup!” Drew took the flour and looked over at his wife. “Now what do we do?” He asked as thought about how awesome this moment he was sharing with his wife was. How many couples baked together? “I’m gonna be like Peeta babe, bank on it!”
“Baking powder and salt.” Drew repeated with a smile on his face. He listened as she explained further instructions,...
